Eland's Bay Museum

Elands Bay staff

The Elands Bay Museum serves as an Interpretation Centre for the World Heritage property: “The Emergence of Modern Humans: The Pleistocene Occupation Sites of South Africa”, which includes three archaeological sites: Diepkloof Rock Shelter, Pinnacle Point Site Complex and Sibhudu Cave. These sites display how a suite of evidence for modern human behaviour in Homo sapiens developed in South Africa from 167 000 years ago.  The Diepkloof Rock Shelter is approximately 20km away and tours of this site can be booked through the museum.

The museum also includes local stories of Elands Bay.
