For more than seventy years, the Peninsula Maternity Hospital in Caledon Street, District Six was a place of hope and new life. From 1921 to 1992, mothers from across the Cape Peninsula came here to give birth, even as their world was torn apart by forced removals.
This exhibition brings these stories to life through the voices of the mothers, nurses, and doctors who remember a place where life, love, and resilience endured.
