old harbour staff edited

The Old Harbour Museum consists of the Old Harbour Museum, De Wet’s House Photo Museum and the Whale House Museum. The Old Harbour Museum includes open-air displays of boats, the old sea wall, brine tanks and bokkom (whole, salted, and sun-dried mullet) tanks. Indoors, one can view photographs of Old Hermanus dating back to the 19th century. These prints were created from glass negatives and were taken by the famous photographer T.D. Ravenscroft, whose studio was in the Main Road, Hermanus. Hermanus is world famous for whale watching. You can learn more about these impressive sea mammals at the Whale House Museum.
